Karnataka

Karnataka is a land lapped in Flora & Fauna. One of India’s most rain fed states, Karnataka has some of the richest terrains in terms of Agri produce and it’s terrain type can be matched only by that of the North Eastern states. With a substantial portion of Western Ghats, Karnataka offers all that makes for a great outing that includes Jungle Safaris, Adventure activities, Water activities, Plantation visits, etc. It has some of the most fascinating trekking opportunities with some of Southern India’s best and highest Peaks.

Few of the most popular places to visit include Bengaluru, Coorg, Chikmagalur, Hampi, Belur, Halibeedu, Nagarhole National Park, etc.

Bangalore:Bangalore is the IT capital of India and India’s answer to Silicon Valley. Due to its pleasant climatic conditions, many IT as well other Industrial organizations have set shop. Most cosmopolitan Indians have made this their new home and so its city culture is modern and vibrant. Capital to Karnataka, it offers very good excursions to many remarkable cities and towns that are known for their Agricultural prowess and historical architectural importance.

Hampi:Hampi was the capital of erstwhile Vijayanagar dynasty. It’s a spectacular reminder of India in yester years with all its richness, civilization & glory. It’s ruins are spread over 26kms and constantly growing in terms of new finds and excavations. Hampi is surrounded by the Tungabadhra River and hence had a highly developed canal and water system. It constantly attracts tourists around the year for its many rock cut sculptures and temples that have a religious significance.

Chikmagalur:India’s first coffee plantation is supposed to be here and also houses India’s only Coffee Research Station. With Coorg, Chikmagalur holds the position for one of the highest Coffee production. Located in the laps of Western Ghat, It offers a spectacular landscape to the avid traveller, hiker, planter and someone who wants to retreat in plush greenery.

Halibeedu – Belur – Sravanabelogola:The three sites constitute for their religious significance and spectacular artisanship. Holy to Hindus and Jains, the temples built around these three sites are beautifully built and sculptures exquisitely carved. Most popular of them is Gomateshwara (Bahubali), the world’s largest monolith statue.

Coorg:Coorg or Kodagu is the richest district in India; the reason being the many coffee estates that produces over 60 percent of Coffee in India. Situated in Karnataka and in the belt of Western Ghats, it has rich flora and fauna. Its home to many birds species and a favorite for visitors to have a relaxing time.

Two most important tour attractions apart from the incredible coffee estates is the Talakaveri: the place where the River Kaveri originates & Buddhist temple at Bylekuppe.

Mysore:Mysore is one of the largest cities of Karnataka along with Bangalore. It houses the palace of the Mysore Royal Family and the palace is a major tourist attraction. It comes to light literally during Dusherra celebrations when the King leads and takes part in procession and festivities. Of late, its become an important destination for World class Industries & IT giants.

Itinerary

Day1: Arrive in Mysore; check in your hotel and hit a list of following places:

  • Ambavilas Palace (Mysore Maharaja’s Palace)
  • Chamundi Hills (short excursion)
  • Jaganmohana Palace – Art Gallery
  • Brindavan Gardens.(short excursion)
  • Srirangapatnam
  • Mysore Zoological Garden / Zoo.
  • Cauvery Emporium – Sandle wood/inlay works
  • GRS Fantasy Park – Themed Water & Amusement park (Family entertainer)
  • Karanji Kere Lake (Small Island Lake park – For couples)
  • St. Philomenas Church
  • Jayalaxmivilas Mansion
  • Overnight in Mysore

  • Day 2: After sumptuous breakfast, leave for Coorg

  • Check in your hotel in the midst of Coffee Plantation.
  • Relax for the day while taking a tour of the plantation.
  • Another option is to Visit Nagarhole National park enroute to Madikeri
  • Overnight in Coorg.

  • Day 3: After sumptuous breakfast, have a round about of Coorg’s famous places:

  • Post lunch, leave for sightseeing of following sites:
  • Raja’s Seat: A cliff offering enchanting views of Madikeri.
  • Mandalpatti View point
  • Visit Abbey Falls: Beautiful waterfalls on way to Raja’s seat in the midst of Coffee Plantations.
  • Dubare Elephant Camp: One of the best Elephant camps in South India.
  • Madikeri Fort: Its a beautiful Fort built by the Rajas of Madikeri and subsequently built by Tipu Sultan
  • Talacauvery: Believed to be source of River Cauvery. Amazingly beautiful site
  • Tibetan Golden temple at Bylakuppe: One of India’s most beautiful Buddhist Monasteries.

  • Day 4: Post Breakfast, try one of the Adventure activities and leave for Chikmagulur.

  • Enroute, visit the historic sites of Belur, Halibeedu & Shravanabelagola
  • Arrive at Chikmagalur; overnight in Chikmagalur

  • Day 5: Get up to an early morning activity with the following:

  • Trek to Mullayanagiri Peak
  • Kudremukh Peak (An amazing Horse faced peak in the Western Ghats)
  • Visit Coffee Musuem & Corporate Headquarters of Cafe Coffee day
  • Overnight in Chikmagalur

  • Day 6: Leave for Hampi

  • Reach Hampi; checkin your hotel and relax for the day
  • Overnight in Hampi

  • Day 7: Complete a guided tour of Hampi including the following:

  • Vittala Temple Complex
  • Achyutaraya Temple
  • Chandramauleshwara Templex
  • Hazara Rama Temple Complex
